On the same day, the JTWC finally upgraded the system to a tropical storm. It featured 52 tropical cyclones, 29 named storms, 17 that became typhoons and four became super typhoons.  Damage in Japan reached US$10 billion. A record-tying 16 of those storms became hurricanes, and a record 11 storms further intensified into major hurricanes throughout the season.  Lingling also passed through the Northeast China, damage were calculated at CN¥930 million (US$131 million). The storms that have formed during the period are listed below. Beaches were closed, but even with the bad weather approaching, tourists on the popular island in the Gulf of Thailand continued to visit bars and restaurants catering to them. Soon afterward, Wutip entered a more hostile environment, with very high vertical wind shear (40–50 knots or 74–93 km/h or 46–58 mph) and lower sea surface temperatures, and the storm rapidly weakened until it dissipated on March 2. Kabayan made landfall in Hainan by September 1, and re-emerged over the South China Sea later, and was upgraded by the JTWC to a monsoon depression.  The first was located to the south of Palau and remained near stationary, before it was last noted during the next day. June was inactive, starting off with a tropical depression on June 24, where it was named Tropical Depression Dodong by PAGASA, and intensified to become Tropical Storm Sepat after absorbing a nearby tropical depression in the South China Sea, but this storm was never recognized by the Joint Typhoon Warning Center. 2019 Pacific typhoon season. On January 19, the JMA upgraded the low-pressure area to a tropical depression when it was already located about 200 km (120 mi) west of Palau.  At that time, Pabuk was about 650 km (405 miles) southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and drifted westward slowly with a partially exposed low-level circulation center. By September 2, the JTWC upgraded 14W to a tropical storm, and maintained its intensity for a couple of days. The next day, the JTWC issued an orange alert in terms of its chance of development, and on the next day, they subsequently followed with a tropical cyclone formation alert. In the month of November, six named storms were recorded, including the most intense tropical cyclone of the season, The system was upgraded to a tropical depression by the JMA on February 18, with the JTWC following suit on the following day, assigning the storm the identifier, This also made Wutip the strongest typhoon ever recorded in February in the, On February 26, Wutip entered a hostile environment with moderate, On March 14, Tropical Depression 03W formed over the, Chedeng rapidly weakened after making landfall in the Philippines, degenerating into a remnant low on March 19. Goring dissipated by 18:00 UTC on July 19 (July 20 PST), with PAGASA declaring that Goring had degenerated into a low-pressure area and discontinued advisories on the storm, and the JMA ceased advisories as well. The scope of this article is limited to the Pacific Ocean, north of the equator between 100°E and the International Date Line. On November 9, Nakri began to weaken as it dropped below typhoon intensity because of the strong wind shear.  Rounding the periphery of a subtropical ridge of high pressure, the depression tracked towards the east-northeast through the East China Sea, intensifying some as it encountered an area of high sea surface temperatures and low wind shear. [ citation needed ], This system was not tracked by the JTWC; however, the agency classified the system as a subtropical storm, with 1-minute sustained winds at 75 km/h (45 mph). On October 1, Mitag weakened below typhoon intensity, before making landfall in, On October 2, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center began monitoring a tropical disturbance that was situated north of the, On October 17, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center began monitoring a disturbance situated a couple hundred miles east of the Marshall Islands, and on October 19, the disturbance quickly organised into Tropical Depression 22W. This storm did not affect land other than moderate wind gusts and moderate rainfall.  On November 17, Kalmaegi entered favorable waters and then intensified into a severe tropical storm. The typhoon damaged 475 houses and buildings, as well as 46,200 ha (114,000 acres) of farmland. Note that all storms with an article (either simplified from enwiki or translated from zhwiki) should be in this category. The remnants of it developed into an Indian Ocean cyclone known as Bulbul.  The remnants soon developed into Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Bulbul. Four days later, Pabuk make landfall in Thailand and exited the basin and into the Bay of Bengal. Many competitions had to be cancelled due to the storm, including a Formula 1 qualifying match. Under favorable conditions, the system organized itself in the next several days. On July 19, the JMA reported that Danas has reached its peak intensity with winds of 85 km/h (50 mph). , On September 14, a tropical depression formed. The system moved westward while remaining very weak and disorganized until it was last noticed on October 3, to the northeast of Luzon. However, a day later, it degenerated to a remnant low. Tropical Storm Peipah struggled, and soon lost the battle against the high wind shear, and after six hours Peipah weakened into a remnant low. 3 tropical depressions formed on the first day of September, the first was Tropical Depression Kabayan, which became Tropical Storm Kajiki, which was erratic, causing damages and flooding in Vietnam and the Philippines.  Under high vertical wind shear, the low-pressure area remained disorganized until December 31 when it was upgraded to a tropical depression by both the JMA and the JTWC. Tropical Depression 01W formed near the Marshall Islands, where a day later, it dissipated, but after crossing into the Philippine Sea, the depression regenerated into Tropical Depression Amang, and made landfall in the Samar region, where it soon dissipated, but floods from tropical depression Amang resulted in a million-peso damage and 10 deaths in Mindanao. Tropical Storms Bailu and Podul impacted Taiwan and the Philippines respectively as well as southern China but caused minimal damage. Advisories began to be issued on the system as a conducive environment with very warm sea surface temperatures and low wind shear allowed 22W to strengthen. However, a day later, it degenerated to a remnant low.
